Position Title: Staff Nurse
Location: Multiple Locations Available
Reports To: Building Principals and School Nurses

Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Pennsylvania credentials as a Registered Nurse or as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Goals:
A staff nurse works under the direction of the School Nurse to assist the school nurse in providing care and maintain records for all students in the school, while adhering to strict confidentiality statues. Staff Nurse is a paraprofessional position as defined by the Department of Education, Bureau of Certification CSPG No. 107 and assists the District’s Health Services staff in performing those duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Checks emergency cards and verifies that a card is filed for each student and that all information is completed and the card is properly signed.
- Reviews all emergency cards and compiles and updates listings of (A) students having conditions that classroom teachers, special teachers and administrators should be aware of and (B) students with exceptions to the standing orders.
- Assists School Nurse in screening for pediculosis according to Commonwealth Guidelines.
- Assists School Nurse with student height and weight growth screenings.
- Administers first aid and serves cases of illness in compliance with Policy and Standing Orders.
- Dispenses medication according to District policy and procedures as defined and directed by the school physician and with the approval of the School Nurse.
- Performs required monitoring of various health impairments as directed by the School Nurse in a proper and timely manner.
- Initiates accident reports where appropriate, notifies School Nurse and Administration and files such reports according to standard procedure.
- Initiates and maintains student health records in a current and timely manner and alerts the School Nurse to any known or potential problems. Data shall include information from physical, dental, and immunization forms and any known changes in health status.
- Alerts School Nurse to any known or suspected student health problems as may be identified in a timely manner.
- Organizes and maintains yearly workbooks according to accepted practice.
- Assists with Physical and Dental examinations by:
- Distributing forms: Requests for School to Provide Examination Notification of Appointment Time
- Preparation of students for exam as directed by supervisor
- Completing clerical work as directed by Physician/Dentist
- Performing other appropriate activities as requested by Physician, Dentist or School Nurse
- Assists as directed by the School Nurse with auditory/visual screening.
- Assists as directed by the School Nurse/Physician with scoliosis screening.
- Prepares materials for bulletin boards, exhibits, and displays as directed by School Nurse/Principal.
- Assists the School Nurse/Principal with the care, storage and inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information relating to students and employees according to the strictest standards.
- Performs other related duties as may be directed by the School Nurse, Supervisor of Special Pupil Services, School Physician/Dentist or Building Administrator.

Technology Education: A person holding a valid Pennsylvania certificate for Technology Education, Industrial Arts/Technology or Industrial Arts is qualified to teach technology education courses in grades PK-12. These courses promote an understanding of the sciences, related technologies and their interrelationship. Technology education is the practical application of tools, materials, processes and systems. Effective technology education provides students with a holistic approach to learning.
Biology: A person holding a valid certificate for Biology is qualified to teach biological/life science courses to students in Grades 7 through 12. A person holding this certificate is also qualified to teach this content in the sixth (6th) grade. (See CSPG #104). Biology is a biological science that generally describes the scientific study of the structure, function, reproduction, growth, heredity, evolution, behavior and distribution of living organisms and their relations to their natural environments.
Chemistry: A person holding a valid Pennsylvania Chemistry certificate is qualified to teach chemistry courses in grades 7 through 12. A person holding this certificate is also qualified to teach this content in the sixth (6th) grade. An educator holding a valid Pennsylvania certificate for Chemistry is qualified to teach courses such as: chemistry, biochemistry, environmental science, organic and inorganic chemistry, physical science, forensic science, and general science.

Social Worker: A person employed in the position of School Social Worker is qualified to serve in grades Pre-K – 12. A person employed in the position of School Social Worker must hold a current license as a social worker (LSW) or licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) issued by the Pennsylvania Department of State and maintain that license to be employed under this staffing assignment as School Social Worker. A person employed in a position as a School Social Worker is qualified to perform the following duties and functions:
- Conduct formal and informal assessments of student functioning, developmental history, family and community structure, interpersonal relationships, adaptive behavior and cultural factors that may influence learning;

Mid-Level Mathematics: An educator holding a valid Pennsylvania Middle Level Mathematics 6-9 certificate is qualified to teach Mathematics programs such as General Mathematics, Personal Finance, Business Mathematics, Algebra, Geometry, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) courses. (Other Instructional certificates may teach STEM courses based on course content and the type of credit being given.)
Grades PK-4: An educator holding a valid Pennsylvania certificate for Grades PK-4 is qualified to teach foundational subject matter content in the areas of language, literacy (including foundations of reading), math, science, social studies, arts/humanities, career readiness, and motor development/health.
Mathematics: An educator holding a valid Pennsylvania Mathematics 7-12 certificate is qualified to teach courses in areas such as general mathematics, algebra, trigonometry, geometry, calculus, functional analysis, number theory, logic, mathematic statistics and probability, business mathematics, applied mathematics, personal finance, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) courses. Family and Consumer Sciences: An educator holding a valid PA certificate for family and consumer science is qualified to teach family and consumer sciences, career exploration, community and family connections, consumer and family resources management, parenting and child development, food, nutrition and wellness, as well as family and interpersonal relationships. The FCS-certified educator may also teach career and technical education related family and consumer sciences programs.
School Psychologist: A person employed in the position of school psychologist must hold a valid -Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE)-issued certificate as a School Psychologist and is qualified to serve grades PK-12. The School Psychologist provides consultation, support, and direct assessment of academic achievement and behavioral health within the school environment. A school psychologist is responsible for conducting psychological, academic, and behavioral assessments in the diagnosis and identification of diverse learners and their needs according to Pennsylvania School Code. The school psychologist serves as a member of the school team to support a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes equity, access, and belonging for all students; promotes and provides behavioral and mental health services; and coordinates care with community and private agencies.
Special Education: An educator holding a Special Education certificate is qualified to render diagnostic, prescriptive, and education services designed within an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to serve students having one or more disabilities; assist in writing the IEP for the identified students; provide appropriate modification to curriculum; and provide instructional support as outlined in the IEP. Special Education certified teachers are qualified to offer pre-career technical and assessment services; provide basic occupational career awareness activities (such as job shadowing for paid/unpaid work experiences in a community-based operation; coordinate job training agreements; and make provision for the appropriate placement of these students in a work or community transition setting related to their career objectives.

An instructional paraprofessional is a school employee who works under the direction of a certificated staff member to support and assist in providing instructional programs and services to children with disabilities or eligible young children. Goals:
The goal is to support the Director of Pupil Services, Special Education Supervisor, and the Lead
Psychologist by ensuring compliance with special education procedures and policies,
maintaining accurate records, and data collection for paraprofessional requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibility:

management systems, along with proper storage, retrieval, and destruction of
